'60s
Rodger D. Young '68, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, was appointed by President George W. Bush as one of five United States Delegates to the United Nations General Assembly for the 2007 term that runs from September through December 2007. "I look forward to presenting the views of the United States to the international community in a meaningful and effective way that forwards the interests of our great country," Rodger said. "I believe that the President selected me as a delegate because of my extensive experience in dispute resolution and my ability to enunciate complex positions to large groups." Rodger will return as a managing partner and lead litigator in his Southfield-based law firm, Young & Susser, P.A., in early 2008. Toni Maltese Flaherty
72, Chanhassen, Minnesota, wrote the Alumni Association after seeing herself with a car load of Jr. Sponsors in a membership ad on page 30 in the Winter 2007 Montanan. "I am the gal in the dress with stripes," Toni writes. "I recognize Bobbi Nelson (Roberta Nelson Jorgensen '72, Helena) to my left and Jan Hanson (Janice Hanson Liane '72, Nine Miles Falls, Washington) in the car – the blond with the shirt with stripes. Stephen E. Medvec '72, M.A. '77, an emeritus member of UMAA's House of Delegates, was recently promoted to associate professor of political science at Holy Famly University in Philadelphia. Steve and his wife, Alexandria, spent this past Christmas in Poland with his wife's family. (4/11/07)

Patrick R. Chapin '78 is park ranger at the Bear Paw Battlefield south of Chinook. He enjoys teaching visitors about the 1877 battle that ended the flight of a band of Nez Perce toward Canada and freedom. (1/8/08)

Alice J. Hinshaw '91, J.D. '94, recently opened Hinsaw Law Firm on Last Chance Gulch in Helena. Alice has practiced law in the Helena area since 1994. (1/8/08)

Sheri Otto Moore '94 gave birth to Hunter Ot Moore on January 10, 2007. Sheri is the librarian for Lambert schools. The Moores live in Richey where Sheri's husband, Brad, is the superintendent/principal. (11/08/07)

Bill Fiedler '97, owner of Distinctive Lighting in Bozeman, received the 2006 Southwest Montana Building Industry Association's Associate of the Year Award. (4/20/07)

Tony Kloker, M.Ed. '97, is the district superintendent of Montana City School. He and his wife, Becky, and daughters, Kendra and McKayla, live in Clancy. (1/8/08)

Jolene M. Bach '02, Great Falls is the director for marketing and communications for the Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Montana. (3/8/07) 

Adam de Yong '03, Helena, is project director for Workforce Innovations in Regional Economic Development (WIRED). Montana's WIRED region encompasses thirty-two counties and six reservations in eastern and central Montana and coordinates education and workforce and economic development in support of the growing alternative energy sector in that region. Kacie Briney '04, Butte, is a sales representative for the Montana Standard, responsible for customer advertising in Dillon, Whitehall, Ennis, Twin Bridges, Sheridan, and points in between. (6/3/07)

Erika Kirsch '04 is the new editor of Western News in Libby. Erika previously was the assistant editor at the Shoshone News Press in Kellogg, Idaho. (6/4/07)











Emily Murdock '04 is finishing up a master's degree in voice performance at the University of Colorado in Boulder. (1/14/08)

Jenny Bayn Shine, M.A. '04 is assistant coordinator for the Network of Oregon Watershed Councils in Eugene, Oregon. She and her husband, Scott, will leave from Eugene on May 30 on a tandem bicycle. Carrying all their own supplies, they plan to arrive at Grand Rapids, Michigan, on July 5. Their return trip ends in Logan, Utah, in August, - 5,000 from their starting point. Jenny and Scott are seeking donations to their Team Hydrate on a per mile basis to aid Thirst Relief, an international non-profit effort to provide safe drinking water and sanitation to impoverished areas of the world.
